This page is used to inform visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decides to use Wine Identifier.
If you choose to use Wine Identifier, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The Personal Information that we collect is used for providing and improving the app. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.
Wine Identifier does not require you to create an account. To provide the service, the app sends the content you choose to analyse — photos of wine labels, shelves or wine lists, and the questions you type — to our server, where it is processed by an AI model to generate an answer. If you ask for a detailed report, the app may also send a push notification token so we can notify you when it is ready. The information that we request will be retained by us only as long as needed to provide the service and is used as described in this Privacy Policy.
Your wine journal — saved wines, tasting notes, ratings, prices and places — is stored on your device. We do not upload or keep a copy of your journal. If you ask the sommelier a question about your collection, the relevant journal entries are sent along with that question so the answer can take them into account, and are not stored afterwards. Deleting the app deletes your journal.
Photos and questions are processed using models provided by OpenAI. Conversation history is kept with OpenAI so that follow-up questions work within a chat, in accordance with OpenAI's API data usage policies, under which API data is not used to train their models. We do not send your name, email address or any account identifier with these requests.
Whenever you use Wine Identifier, we may collect data and information on your device called Log Data in case of an error. This Log Data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol (IP) address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilizing Wine Identifier, the time and date of your use of the app, and other statistics.
Subscriptions are purchased through and managed by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment details. Apple's handling of your purchase information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Wine Identifier does not use “cookies” explicitly. However, you have the option to accept or refuse cookies from your device settings. If you choose to refuse cookies, some portions of the app may not function properly.

Wine Identifier is about alcoholic beverages and is not intended for anyone under the legal drinking age in their country, and in any case not for anyone under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. If we discover that a child has provided us with personal information, we will immediately delete it from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can take necessary actions.
